About Conversations with Young Changemakers (CYC)

Conversations with Young Changemakers is a new program empowering the next generation of young leaders by bringing changemakers to classrooms as guest speakers. Students will hear the speaker's story of impact, ask questions about their work and experiences, and be inspired to make a difference in their own communities. This program is offered free of charge.

 

Classrooms & Schools:

Benefits:

  • Students have the opportunity to have an interactive question and answer session with the guest speaker

  • Participating classrooms will be provided with a pre-speaker lesson plan to encourage meaningful engagement between the students and the guest speaker

  • Guest speakers can be selected by topic to best support classroom learning objectives

  • Guest speakers will inspire students to create positive change in their communities

Eligibility:

Classrooms that are interested in participating must:

  • Have consistent internet access during speaker visit

  • Have access to a computer in the classroom on the day of speaker visit

  • Complete the Pre-Speaker Lesson with the classroom before the speaker visit

  • Provide at least 1 week's notice of cancellation and attend speaker visit at scheduled time

  • Be respectful of the speaker

  • Complete post-speaker visit survey within one week after speaker visit

  • Classroom submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis by the Conversations with Young Changemakers team.

  • All applicants will be notified of their application status by email

Application:

As part of your application you will need to complete an application form. Answers should be clear and as detailed as possible. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

  • Speakers will receive the following benefits:

  • Inform and inspire students

  • Pre-session speaker coaching and training

  • Promotion of your work on Human Projects website and social media

Eligibility:

To be considered for a guest speaker position, applicants should:

  • Display dedication and commitment to solving a social issue in their community or the world

  • In the process of running or have completed a social good project, program, nonprofit, or social enterprise related to human rights or Sustainable Development Goals

  • Citizens of all countries are eligible.

  • Speaker submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis by the Conversations with Young Changemakers team

  • Applicants selected to move forward with the process will be invited for a 15 minute interview

  • All applicants will be notified of their application status by email
