Empowering minority and low-income changemakers
Alachua County Florida
The Standing Tall Program is a pilot program focused on empowering minority and low-income changemakers. The Standing Tall Program pairs minority and low-income students with university students, faculty, or alumni. Participating students meet with their mentors to receive academic guidance and assistance in creating a project that positively impacts the community. Students also receive micro grants to help them complete their community projects.
Combining academic guidance, career mentorship, and project development will allow participating students to grow both personally and academically. Students will also develop valuable workforce and entrepreneurial skills such as communication, budgeting, leadership, teamwork, and responsibility.
Making Changemaking Accessible
We believe that every student should have the chance to learn the skills they need to change the world. We are dedicated to providing changemaking and entrepreneurial education free of charge to students in low-income districts. We are currently in the process of creating and testing a variety of classroom materials for middle and high school students. If you are a teacher, administrator, or student who would like to learn more or participate in one of the beta tests, please contact us.
