Closing the achievement gap through mentorship and community service
Alachua County Florida
Standing Tall is a program that pairs minority students with university students, faculty, or alumni. Participating students meet with their mentors to receive academic guidance and assistance in creating a project that positively impacts the community. Students also receive micro grants to help them complete their community projects.
Combining academic guidance, career mentorship, and project development will allow participating students to grow both personally and academically. Students will also develop valuable workforce skills such as communication, budgeting, leadership, teamwork, and responsibility.
