Do you want to lead positive change in your community?

Start a Human Projects Club!

Part 1: What is a Human Projects Club?

Overview:

Human Projects Clubs are independent groups of young leaders who act as catalysts for positive change in their communities. You and your club members will learn the fundamentals of human rights and how to create positive change. Then you will apply your knowledge to solve human rights issues in your own community and empower other young leaders in your community to help others.

Club Curriculum:

The Human Projects club curriculum (How to Change the World: A Practical Guide for Youth Leadership in Grassroots Human Rights Work) walks you through the steps to ideate and build a community project using a modified engineering design process. This process encourages meaningful community stakeholder engagement at each step as well as encouraging a deep understanding of the issue and its impact on the community. This approach maximizes the project’s potential to adequately address the community issue.

Club Leadership:

Clubs are free to choose their own leadership models however we do require a “Club Leader/President” who acts as the main point of contact for the club. If your Club President is of legal age in your country, you do not need to read the Adult Advisor section. If not, you will need an “Adult Advisor.”

Adult Advisors:

The Adult Advisor takes responsibility for your club and ensures safety. An Adult Advisor could be a teacher, parent, community leader, or other trusted adult. When taking on their role, Adult Advisors commit to upholding youth leadership and acting as supportive allies. If you have trouble navigating leadership with your Adult Advisor, please let us know and we will work with you to find a resolution.
