Education as a Pathway for Change:

Why Human Projects Educators from Around the World Teach Human Rights

Exhibit Note:

We are inspired by the resilience and dedication displayed by educators we work with in the face of the many barriers to human rights education. Curious about what drives them to continue in the face of these challenges, we asked Human Projects educators from around the world to share why they teach human rights.

Their responses show common threads of commitment to their students’ growth and safety as well as a commitment to leveraging their role as an educator to inspire positive change in their community, country, and the world.

Thank you to the 194 Human Projects educators who donated their time to contribute to this exhibition and to the many educators around the world navigating complex political, social, and educational environments to teach their students human rights.

Minor errors such as capitalization, punctuation, and spelling were edited for clarity. We did not make significant edits and prioritized maintaining the initial text therefore some quotes are posted with grammatical errors.

We were unable to include all submitted responses in the first iteration of this exhibit, however we are working to find a solution that will allow the page to load within a reasonable amount of time while sharing the quotes. For the time being, the quotes will be periodically interchanged.
